Jen Denitto : Vocals, Guitar, Bass, E-Drums
Mixed by Jen Denitto
"I first heard of Umbrella Heaven in 1995 when riot-grrl band Linus recorded demos for our second album with Gayl Gordon. She was unable to finish the mixing so we went to her friends' studio, Café Eric. Robin (Morgan) and Simon (Aldous) let us know they were playing a show at the Bull And Gate, and so I went along. I bought their album "Do You Hate Me", and subsequently became obsessed with it. We became friends and after hanging out for a few years, a slot was available for a keyboard player. Not being a keyboard player, but not being in any bands at the time, I joined, and spent a fun few years playing keyboards so quietly no one could hear me.
One day in rehearsal we swapped instruments and I had a go at the drums. Umbrella Heaven's guitarist, Tim Foxley, gave me my first drum lesson ("No Fun" by The Stooges).
I love "Right Side Of The River" because I used to live north of the Thames and wonder why anyone would want to live in South London. But then I moved to Brixton in 2000 and realised that there is a lot more space and stuff to do down here. I have joined 'some suburban clique' and am having a very nice time too." - Jen
