Ian Button - Drums

Mixed by Joël Bourret

"About 30 years ago, for various reasons, I gave up a career that paid me stupid amounts of money ... to make music and to be what was then quaintly called a "house husband". I foresaw a lonely adventure as I thought that no-one else in Lewisham was in an interesting band. I'm pretty slow... in fact there were loads of great bands mostly centred around the Hilly Fields, Marsala Rd area. A whole scene with this band Umbrella Heaven at its centre. It seemed to be more a street that made music rather than a band. They were the greatest band I'd never heard of led by Simon Aldous and his great lyrics... with a whole load of side projects and links to other bands (two of which I later joined). You could do a whole rock family trees book about Umbrella Heaven. A few months ago I got this email from Joel in Memphis, Tennessee asking if I would cover a 'Brollies' song. I did, and so did a load of other people." - Jack

lyrics

Your Skin

Your skin, so fresh, so free from blame
So soft, so pure, I feel ashamed
When it transfixes me again
You know i have to stay

My aching bones, my limbs of clay
My eyes feel sore, my brain feels grey
But you can keep the pain at bay
And that's all I can ask for

Kiss my aching bones again
Each twisted muscle, every sprain
Kisses take away the pain
If only for a moment

Have I been alive too long
Or am I just doing it all wrong?
Could I feel as if I belong
And would I like it if I did?

I don't know how I got this way
But you can keep the ache away
You can make me feel okay
And that's all I can ask for
That's all I can ask for

Your skin keeps my decay at bay
Your skin keeps my decay at bay

Your skin keeps my decay at bay
And that's all I can ask for
Your skin keeps my decay at bay
And that's all I can ask for

Tribute To The Greatest Band ... You've Never Heard Of Memphis, Tennessee

To bring awareness to the bands that had a regional following at best. To reinvent the songs into something fresh, a cover needs not to be a carbon copy
